Woolzies Dryer Balls

1Why are Woolzies better than traditional fabric softeners?
Regular fabric softeners contain chemicals that are toxic to the environment and are dangerous for people with serious allergies (which are often triggered by chemicals). Woolzies bounce around in your dryer and naturally create space between your laundry items, allowing the hot air to circulate better, therefore reducing drying time.
2How many dryer balls do I need for each load of laundry?
Three Woolzies dryer balls are enough for a small load. Use six for a large load and eight for an extra-large load.
3How long will my Woolzies last?
Woolzies last for around 1,000 loads.
4If I have an allergy to wool, can I still use Woolzies?
Yes! Absolutely! Since the wool is not directly touching your skin and does not shed, everyone can use Woolzies without any allergic reactions.
5Why are Woolzies better than other rubber/plastic/tennis balls?
Rubber and plastic balls are made from harsh chemicals including PVCs, which are released onto your laundry by the hot dryer air. Not only are these types of dryer balls dangerous to your health, they are toxic to the environment as well. Additionally, the harsh tumbling action of rubber, plastic, and tennis balls can damage your dryer’s sensitive electronic sensors. Finally, some of these types of balls may even melt slightly and stain your laundry.
6Why aren’t the dryer balls uniform in size, shape, and texture?
Our dryer balls are completely handmade, not mass produced by machines. Therefore, variations are to be expected.
7Are the sheep treated well?
Yes! Beyond the Code of Sheep Welfare regulations enforced by the New Zealand government, our wool supplier proved through a partner selection process that their sheep are treated and sheared humanely and they are free to express their normal patterns of behavior.
8 Which blend do you recommend pairing with the Woolzies dryer ball?
Woolzies Laundry Collection Essential Oil Set.
9Are the Woolzies dryer balls vegan?
Because they are made with 100% natural wool, they are not vegan. They are, however, cruelty-free.
10Why do sheep need to be sheared once a year?
The Government of New Zealand shares that sheep with 12 months wool growth or more will suffer considerable stress and even exhaustion resulting in death, unless they are shorn before the onset of summer heat each year. Sheep also like to roll on the ground, particularly after a shower of rain. A shorn sheep is much more likely to get to its feet again compared to a sheep with a long fleece. A sheep on its back with a heavy fleece will die quickly in the height of summer and long fleeces will also get caught up more easily in wire, netting, etc.

Pets

1Can I use Woolzies essential oils on my pet? I heard that you can apply tea tree or lavender to pets to prevent ticks and fleas.
The ability to tolerate essential oils is dependent on many factors including plant species, product, dose and route of application. Essential oil use cases show the biggest risk of toxicity is from direct to skin application on your pet’s skin – these same cases also share that a large volume was applied directly, and neat (pure without a carrier) to the pet’s skin. Knowing that there is a risk in applying these oils to your pets fur or skin and in order to protect their wellbeing, we strongly recommend consultation with your veterinarian or animal care specialist prior to the application or exposure of any of our products.
2I want to use essential oils around my pet and I’ve seen tea tree and eucalyptus reported as toxic. Is this true? Why are these ingredients unsafe?
Our research has shown it’s the application method (ie. direct to skin) and dosage (how much is being used) that are the primary factors in these reported cases – however, to be cautious, we recommend using a Woolzies blend without these two ingredients when you’re using diffusing or using Woolzies products around your pet.
3I’ve checked with my vet and am choosing to use essential oils around my pet, do you have any Woolzies product recommendations?
If you’ve chosen to use essential oils around your pet, we first recommend taking note of your pets behavior, contacting your vet with any concerns, and the below list of Woolzies products that we feel are the most pet-friendly: Single note essential oils: - Chamomile Roman - Frankincense - Clary Sage - Geranium
4 Is it safe to use an ultrasonic diffuser with essential oils in a room with my pet in it?
Should you choose to use your ultrasonic diffuser in the presence of your pet, we recommend: - Using only small amounts of your favorite diffuser blend. 1-5 drops is our recommendation - Ensure the space is well ventilated with a window open slightly for fresh air - Always keep a door open so that the animal can enter and exit the room easily - Take note of how your pet responds at all times and if you notice your pet resisting an aroma, discontinue use and move them to a well-ventilated space - Be particularly mindful of pets that are in cages or enclosed spaces (including birds and small rodents) as they do not have the ability to leave the room if they become uncomfortable
5How do I introduce an essential oil or blend to my pet to see if they like it?
Many animals have a higher sense and sensitivity to smell than we do; we do not recommend that you attempt to have your pet smell any essential oil products directly out of the bottles, and follow the guidelines above regarding diffusing.
6 Can I pet my cat or dog after applying a Woolzies product?
We recommend waiting until the product has fully absorbed before handling your pet.
7Is it safe for my cat or dog to lick my skin after using my skin care products?
We recommend that you discourage your pet from licking any area of your skin following application of our products.
8 Is an ultrasonic diffuser with essential oils safe to use near my aquarium?
We recommend placing your ultrasonic diffuser a safe distance away from your aquarium.
9Is an ultrasonic diffuser with essential oils safe to use near my pet bird, lizard, tarantula or guinea pig?
There is a need for more research on the topic of essential oils used near small pets. To be cautious, we suggest avoiding essential oils and use of diffuser blends in an ultrasonic diffuser placed near small pets. As we mentioned above, when diffusing these small pets in cages do not have the ability to leave the room should they become uncomfortable.
