Benefits of Owning an Essential Oil Diffuser (+ the Best Blends)
Essential oil diffusers are in right now!
While some people think they're just another trend, we can assure you diffusers are one of the best ways to enjoy the aromatic benefits of essential oils.
Keep reading as we explore the benefits of having an essential oil diffuser at your home or office.
Why use a diffuser?
Essential oil diffusers have more benefits than we can name!
Diffusing essential oils supports your mood, focus, energy, and even your immunity. When you inhale the powerful aromas, molecules interact with your nervous system via olfactory receptors in your nose. Diffusers also make your space smell good, cleanse the air, and keep insects away. At Woolzies, we swear by ultrasonic diffusers because they don't use heat and don't denature the oils. Instead, vibrations disperse the oil molecules in the air as a fine mist. You can also put the diffuser on a timer and adjust the mist settings.
Here's how you can improve your life with an oil diffuser:
Inhaling certain essential oils can dilate your airways, clear congestion, and ease a sinus headache. Our favorite single oils to diffuse for nasal congestion and sinusitis are peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree, pine, lemon, and rosemary.
If you prefer a blend, Woolzies Breathe Blend contains a convenient mix of peppermint, eucalyptus, frankincense, tea tree, lemon, laurel leaf, thyme, cardamom, cypress, and myrtle.
The dilution rate when using a diffuser is 3-5 drops of oil per 100 ml of water. Turn your diffuser on and inhale deeply as the oils get to work.
If you have insomnia, keeping a diffuser by your bedside is one of the best tools for good sleep. Inhaling relaxing oils 30 minutes before bed sends a calming message to the amygdala in your brain. Try adding 2 drops of lavender oil, 2 drops of Roman chamomile oil, and 1 drop of sandalwood oil to your diffuser for a restful blend. Just remember to set your diffuser to switch off after 30 minutes, so it doesn't run all night!
Kill airborne germs
Diffusing antimicrobial essential oils in your home and office can neutralize germs and odors. It may even minimize the transmission of airborne viruses, which helps as we navigate a world after COVID-19. Oils like tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon, orange, lemongrass, and rosemary are antimicrobial. You can make a germ-killing blend using 2 drops of lemon oil, 2 drops of orange oil, and 1 drop of peppermint oil.
Adding essential oils to a diffuser is great for keeping mosquitos and other insects at bay on summer nights. Citronella is the most well-known oil for keeping mosquitoes away. Lemongrass, lavender, and clove are also great options and offer an alternative to chemical-laden bug repellents. Our Bug Repellent Blend is a combination of oils that insects hate the most! Just a few drops added to your diffuser can help you sleep undisturbed.
Scent has the power to change your mood. It stimulates a part of your brain responsible for emotions, memory, and behavior. That's why essential oils are our go-to when depression, anxiety, and stress take hold. Our Woolzies Good Mood Blend is a floral oil that promotes energy and positivity. It contains lavender, clary sage, cypress, geranium, and lemongrass oils. Add 5 drops to your diffuser to turn a bad day into a happy one!
Cleaning your diffuser
Essential oil diffusers accumulate residue and get blocked if not kept clean.
We suggest filling your diffuser with water along with a teaspoon of white vinegar and letting it run for 10 minutes. Empty the tank and wipe it out with a cloth. This ensures it will work for years to come!
If you're an essential oil fanatic – like us – a diffuser is a must-have! However, more is not better when diffusing oils. We suggest diffusing in a well-ventilated space for 15-30 minutes at a time, followed by a 30-minute break. Check out our range of ultrasonic diffusers for one that suits your home's aesthetic.
Note: If you're pregnant or have asthma, speak to a trained aromatherapist before using diffuser blends.
